Slovenia / Sečovlje / Salt Pans  This site has been turned into a museum to show how salt had been harvested from the sea.  The process was to let the sea water enter a set of "pans" or shallow pools.  The sun evaporates the water, leaving a higher concentration of salt.  Next, the contents of the initial pans are combined in the next set.  More evaporation takes place and the movement of the more concentrated solution it again moved until the concentration is so high that the salt begins to crystallize.
